Does my child have to attend the specific times of the session?
Not necessarily. We have three main session times: Morning 08:00 – 13:00, Afternoon 12:45 – 17:45 and all day 08:00 – 17:45. You may drop off and collect your child at any point during the session he/she is booked in for. The prices of each session are fixed. We do try and advise that children are brought in by 9 am so that they do not miss circle time.
What happens if a friend or relative is going to collect my child?
When filling out our Little Engineers starter pack there is a section where parents are able to select up to 4 adults (18+) who are allowed to collect their child. If the friend/relative is not on the list, you will need to provide us with the full name of this person, a description of what they look like, and valid photographic ID.
My child doesn’t speak any English; will this be a problem?
This is definitely not a problem; our staff are trained to accommodate the needs of children who have English as an additional language. We work alongside parents to gain words of the child’s mother tongue so that we can engage with them by using simple keywords. The majority of the children who attend the setting also have English as an additional language.
My child has been to lots of nurseries before; do they still need to do settling in?
Yes. A new environment can be daunting for an adult let alone a young child. It is important that the child gets to know their new environment with a familiar adult by their side. It is crucial for the child to feel comfortable at this time so that they can adjust to their new surroundings, routine, children and staff.
What happens if I am late collecting my child?
The Nursery has a duty of care to the children and parents to ensure that the collection of very young children is made at the agreed time or within normal nursery opening hours. Late collection causes additional overhead and costs for the Nursery and potential unnecessary distress to a child. All parents/carers will be given a 5 minutes’ grace period on late collection of their child. If your child has still not been collected 5 minutes after the session has ended (e.g. 1.05pm, or 5.50pm), then £10 will be charged and for every ten minutes thereafter.
It’s my child’s birthday – can I bring in cake?
We will purchase ingredients and bake a cake with the children taking into consideration of allergies and dietary requirements' We will not give any cake to the children but will leave it at the front so you will have the say whether you would like your child to have it or not.
Can I swap my sessions during the course of a week?
No. Our staffing rota is based on the numbers of children booked in according to their shift patterns which should be set, and additional sessions or hours will need to be approved by management to see if we can accommodate this.
My child is ill – do we still have to pay?
Yes. Fees are applicable throughout the year regardless of absences as we must still cover the expenses of the running of the nursery. This includes going on holiday or taking any other days off.
I had to collect my child from the Nursery as they were unwell. How long do I have to wait until they are able to attend the Nursery again?
If your child has had a high temperature (38c) we will administer paracetamol or ibuprofen with your permission. If your child’s temperature is at a standstill or becomes higher you’re required to collect your child immediately. Your child cannot attend the nursery for 24 hours from the last time that their temperature was high.
If your child has had 3 or more loose stools this could mean that they have diarrhoea. In the case of infectious disease such as Ear infection, Diarrhoea, and Vomiting, children must not attend the nursery for 48 hours from the time of their last loose stool or last time throwing up.
If a child has conjunctivitis they should be taken to the doctors to get PRESCRIBED eye drops. Once they have taken the eye drops for 24 hours, they can then return to nursery with the eye drops.
If your child is showing any symptoms of the coronavirus such as a high temperature, new continuous cough or loss/ change in smell or taste we will ask if you can come and collect your child immediately and isolate for 10 days (14 days for household members). Please do not make physical contact with the Nursery until the 14 days have passed. As advised by Public Health we will advise you to get tested. Please inform us of the results. If the result is negative, please provide us with proof of this and then your child will be able to attend the Nursery again. Do you accept the government funding scheme and/ or childcare vouchers?

Is there a notice period?
Yes, there is a 1 month written notice period to amend or end the contract. Please ask at reception for a notice of withdrawal form.
Are there any administration fees?
We charge a non-refundable registration fee of £50. There is a £100 deposit required to secure your place which is returned to you when leaving (assuming that 1-month notice is given).
